Tele-Mental Health or Virtual Therapy
Tele-Mental Health, or virtual therapy, offers a convenient and flexible way to access therapy without travelling. This approach eliminates commuting time and helps accommodate busy schedules, making it a viable solution for those with time constraints or difficulty attending in-person sessions.
However, it’s important to note that Tele-Mental Health is not suitable for everyone. It is not intended for emergency or crisis intervention. It may not be appropriate for individuals with psychiatric disorders, substance use concerns, or those at risk of self-harm or harming others. Individuals in crisis or facing these challenges would benefit from a comprehensive treatment team, including in-person care and immediate support. If you fall into these categories, seeking immediate assessment at your nearest hospital is recommended.
Emerging studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person sessions. For some individuals, the comfort and familiarity of their own home can even enhance the therapeutic experience.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Disclosure
Equine-assisted psychotherapy within a private practice setting offers a unique and powerful therapeutic experience, yet it may not be a suitable choice for everyone. Individuals who have received diagnoses of psychiatric disorders, are living with substance use concerns, or are at risk of self-harm or harming others are better served by a comprehensive, team-based approach. In these cases, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team rather than a therapist in a private practice is often the most appropriate and effective course of action.
